Work Smart, Not Hard

My brother tells me, that in an exam some students were caught cheating. The professor who spotted the cheaters was extremley dissapointed and lectured them on honesty. He strictly penalized the culprits and exclaimed "I hope you all have learnt a lesson". One naughty student playfully said "Sir jee, mainay yeh seekha kay nakal kay liyay akal chahiyee hotee hai":p:p.
The professor and the entire class giggled at this and the tension dissolved.
This reminded me of one of my university professors. He used to say over and over again; In order to succeed, "WORK SMART, NOT HARD". Obviously he didn't imply to unfair practices, rather tactful use of the head.

"WORK SMART, NOT HARD"-Prof Ahsan Abdullah

Judging by programming skills of some of my class mates (who liked to refer to themselves as the 'Bhai loag') I can say they've certainly made good use of this statement, better still, improvised on it. Here is what Danish told us about one of his OOP assignments...

"yaar this one is from second semester. we had that flight reservation system assingment "Jiss ka sirf nam hi pata hy Ajj takk"
me nn Bakr khuar ho gay thy sab say assignment mang mang ker but aabi kisi say koi assra nahi ho raha tha.....
Bakr was sitting in canteen of old campus wid some one ......
KKKK MALIK BILAL just agreed to give his assingment to me "wid change as who bi hum khud nahi ker sakty thy" i was so exited i rushed to bakr nn said "bakr chaapa mil gia hay sceen on hy"..... bakr didnt smile..... the guy sitting next to bakr said naam kia hy app ka .....i replied "Danish .... App kun" ....
He said i am Ikram app ka TA ...:(
he wrote our names but we Boldly gave demo nn got some marks wid our PUNCH LINE statement "Sir Allah ki kasam Khud ki hy" lolzz .....will rem that for a long time....." [1]

And who says you can't pass OS and CC without any knowledge of C++?

PS: Danish is in NJIT nowadays doing his masters.

no offence intended but i always thought guys got away with a lot of such stuff cuz of their pal-ship(if that's a word) with the TAs. But then again...that's what is called working smart :)

Copying assignment and afterwards getting away with it can be more suitably termed as working smart.

I think guys are actually 'dheet'. As a TA I found that no matter what you can't make some of them do their assignments. There were some students who were completely hopeless. Sometimes I had to solve whole assignments for them because they would ask each and every step of the solution and they wouldn't move an inch untill you tell them. And it makes it easier if the TA is your pal as he knows your needs well ;)

PS: NJIT = New Jersy Institute of Technology

A common line in FAST was "TA to apna jiggar hai." :)
