Quotes on Trust

A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was scared so he asked his little daughter: "Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river" The little girl said: "No, Dad. You hold my hand."
"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.
"There's a big difference," replied the little girl.
"If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go."
In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting them to hold yours.

relevantly Samuel Butler is quoted to have said, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have lost at all".

and i like to generalize this to the less eloquent, "it is better to trust and risk betrayal than to have lived life poisoned by suspicion".

and once the trust is broken you live a life poisoned by deception, hurt and pain or atleast with a pinch of it..is trusting ppl worth the pain it can possibly bring? yes it is, if we don't trust we miss out on looooots!if broken we learn certain things, and grow to be stronger n wiser ppl, if kept we can enjoy the wonders of companionship be it friendship or any other bond
it takes immense courage to place your trust in somebody doesn't it? and i believe trust b/w two ppl builds over time and interaction..those who have trustworthy companions around are truly blessed. khany, thanx 4 sharing the quotes..do i know you?

Interesting post. Uncle Khany...lol..thats your old Physics teacher..Syra ( sp.?..:))

I think it is important to know what, where, when, why and how to trust and question the assumptions the trust is based on. blind trust isnt good either....
And I think one of you quotes mentions real..trust is trust in God...thats one trust that will never betray you...

I'd go with Mother Teresa. Keep your walls so high that betrayals cannot hurt you. The last line in the above post is where you'll eventually end up.

by keeping the walls high we will be barricading ourselves inside a place where there's noone with us...we'll be alone...now that's a situation atleast i'd ponder over...do i want to be alone forever? i don't think it's possible...it's against human nature...noone can survive alone...we'll have to lower the walls sometime...

Well nobody begins to trust somebody BLINDLY or naively!! it's always reasoned.
and attique, like i said before in one of my earlier comment posts to you, one should be flexible and shouldn't hold oneself back from trusting ppl and loving them. Such rigidity isn't good.
In God we trust, all rest we virus scan, do keep updating your anti-viruses, because some virus come back from the past disguised as truthworthy s/w,they directly
attack the OS, erase all data and wipe out all memory!
so friends, keep updating your anti-viruses and O if God forbid If somebody breaks your trust, don't be disheartened, rather Thank Allah you got to see the true HYPOCRITE face of the one who gained your trust, only to break it someday!!
on a positive note:if your bonds are build SINCERELY from both sides, no cracks shall ever leave a mark! may appear momentarily though
if not...go throw the cracked mirror out of the window. You are better off without it.

how does one define break of a trust...
say if I am your friend and you have shared with me some personal feelings...feelings which would hurt you, if you kept thinking about it..
and I after knowing your feelings share the same with the one who has given you pain... to understand what made him do that and to advise him for future to not hurt you...or other way if as a friend I want to give more comfort to my friend..and bring you out of the hurt full feelings...

will this be called as break of trust...
